Una segunda vuelta extraordinaria por los tres tramos que formaban la primera etapa del 55 RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada, Rally de España 2019, ha situado a Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) como líderes a la conclusión de la misma, tras haber estado en cabeza hasta tres pilotos diferentes (Sébastien Ogier, Thierry Neuville y Dani Sordo), durante el transcurso de esta jornada inicial. Precisamente los españoles Dani Sordo y Carlos del Barrio perdían la primera plaza en el último tramo, por lo que descendían a la tercera posición mientras Thierry Neuville/Nicolas Gilsoul se mantenían en el segundo puesto. Eso permitía a Hyundai situar a sus tres i20 Coupe WRC en las plazas de podio antes de la disputa de las dos etapas restantes sobre asfalto.
Tres tramos formaban la primera sección con la que comenzaba esta mañana el 55 RallyRACC. A la primera jornada, íntegramente sobre tierra, han salido de la zona de asistencia de PortAventura World un total de 61 participantes. En el corto tramo de Gandesa, de tan solo 7 km e idéntico al del año pasado, Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (Citroën C3 WRC) lograban el mejor crono por delante de los Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC de Dani Sordo/Carlos del Barrio y de Thierry Neuville/Nicolas Gilsoul, mientras que los líderes provisionales del mundial, Ott Tänak/Martin Järveoja (Toyota Yaris WRC), quedaban algo más descolgados. De hecho, Ogier mejoraba el registro de Tänak del año pasado en 3’’.
Sin embargo en Horta-Bot (19 km), algo más corto en su recorrido que el de Pesells de la edición anterior, Ogier tenía problemas con la dirección y cedía casi 45’’ con respecto al mejor tiempo de Neuville, que de este modo se situaba como nuevo líder provisional de la carrera seguido por Sordo y Meeke, ambos por delante de Tänak.
El tercer tramo del bucle, el más largo con 38,85 km y de carácter mixto al combinar tierra y asfalto, nos mostraba al tercer ganador parcial diferente, pues Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena eran los más rápidos seguidos por Sordo y Neuville, todos ellos con Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Así, Sordo se situaba como líder provisional al concluir la mañana, a pesar de un pinchazo en esta última especial de La Fatarella-Vilalba, seguido por Neuville y Tänak mientras los problemas de Ogier continuaban y se quedaba totalmente descolgado de la lucha por la victoria y, en consecuencia, del título mundial de pilotos.
La segunda vuelta por las tres especiales ya disputadas durante la mañana confirmaban el dominio que estaban ejerciendo los Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC, con Sordo consiguiendo su primer mejor tiempo en el RallyRACC en Gandesa y Loeb en Horta-Bot y repitiendo en La Fatarella-Vilalba, situación esta que colocaba a Loeb/Elena como nuevos líderes provisionales al término de la primera jornada. Además, los Hyundai se estaban mostrando muy consistentes con los tres coches oficiales ubicados en las tres primeras plazas, pues Neuville/Gilsoul y Sordo/Del Barrio ocupaban el segundo y tercer puesto respectivamente. El piloto español cedía su liderato en el último tramo de la jornada, al perder 21’’7 con respecto a Loeb, pero cualquiera de ellos sigue manteniendo las opciones de victoria, al menos con respecto a Kris Meeke/Sebastian Marshall y Ott Tänak/Martin Järveoja, que se situaban a continuación.
Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia conseguían recuperar hasta el duodécimo lugar mientras un problema mecánico dejaba fuera de carrera al Citroën de Esapekka Lappi/Janne Ferm en el quinto tramo. La clasificación provisional de WRC2 Pro sigue encabezada por Mads Ostberg/Torstein Eriksen (Citroën C3 R5) mientras que en WRC2 el dominio le corresponde a Pierre-Louis Loubet/Vincent Landais (Skoda Fabia R5 Evo).
Mañana sábado se disputa la segunda etapa, ya sobre asfalto y donde la configuración de todos los coches tendrá que ser modificada esta noche por los mecánicos en la asistencia de PortAventura World. La jornada contará con 7 especiales, con un doble paso por Savallà (14,08 km), Querol (21,26 km) y El Montmell (24,40 km) para concluir en el tramo urbano de Salou (2,24 km), contabilizando así 121,72 km cronometrados de los 462,96 totales.

Sébastien Loeb (Hyundai) lidera el 55 RallyRACC en acabar la primera jornada
PortAventura World (Tarragona), 25-10-2019.- En una segona meitat d’etapa extraordinària, Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) han acabat la primera jornada del 55 RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada, Rally de España 2019, al capdavant de la classificació. La primera plaça, però, ha estat ocupada per tres pilots diferents al llarg del dia. Els espanyols Dani Sordo i Carlos del Barrio han caigut de la primera a la tercera posició al darrer tram, mentre que Thierry Neuville i Nicolas Gilsoul –que havien estat descavalcats abans precisament per Sordo- han acabat el dia segons. Així, els tres Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC copen les places de podi abans de desembarcar en les etapes d’asfalt.
A primera hora del matí, 61 participants sortien del parc d’assistència de PortAventura World per encetar un dia majoritàriament sobre terra, dividit en tres trams a doble passada. En els breus 7 km del tram de Gandesa (idèntic al de l’any passat), Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (Citroën C3 WRC) es col·locaven per davant dels Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC de Dani Sordo/Carlos del Barrio i de Thierry Neuville/Nicolas Gilsoul. Els actuals líders del mundial, Ott Tänak/Martin Järveoja (Toyota Yaris WRC), es despenjaven una mica. De fet, Ogier havia millorat el millor temps de l’any passat, fet pel mateix Tänak, en més de 3”.
Al segon tram del dia, un Horta-Bot de 19 km i lleugerament escurçat en comparació amb el tram de Pesells corregut l’edició anterior, Ogier ensopegava amb problemes de direcció i perdia gairebé 45” respecte al millor temps, que catapultava Neuville al capdamunt de la general, per davant de Sordo, Meeke i Tänak.
El tercer tram de la sessió de matí, de més longitud (38,85 km) i combinant terra i asfalt, consagrava un guanyador diferent: Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena entraven per davant de Sordo i Neuville, oferint a Hyundai un trio a les primeres places. El matí acabava amb Dani Sordo liderant la taula tot i la punxada soferta a la darrera especial de La Fatarella-Vilalba, seguit per Neuville i Tänak. A Ogier encara no se li havien acabat els problemes i quedava completament descartat en la lluita per la victòria i, en conseqüència, també pel campionat mundial de pilots.
La segona volta per les tres especials que ja s’havien corregut al matí confirmava el clar domini dels Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC: Sordo aconseguia el millor temps a Gandesa, i Loeb s’imposava als trams d’Horta-Bot i La Fatarella-Vilalba. El veterà Loeb es col·locava primer a la classificació provisional, en una jornada on els Hyundai han demostrat una gran regularitat i han copat les tres primeres posicions, amb Neuville/Gilsoul i Sordo/Del Barrio segons i tercers. El pilot espanyol ha cedit el lideratge al darrer tram, després de perdre 21”7 respecte a Loeb. Tots tres continuen optant al calaix més alt del podi, ben per davant de Kris Meeke/Sebastian Marshall i Ott Tänak/Martin Järveoja, que han ocupat la quarta i cinquena places.
Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia han aconseguit remuntar fins a la 12a posició, mentre el Citroën d’Esapekka Lappi/Janne Ferm quedava fora de la cursa per problemes mecànics al cinquè tram. La classificació provisional del WRC2 Pro continua encapçalada per Mads Ostberg/Torstein Eriksen (Citroën C3 R5), i la de WRC2 per Pierre-Louis Loubet/Vincent Landais (Skoda Fabia R5 Evo).
Dissabte es corre la segona etapa, ja sobre asfalt. Els mecànics hauran de modificar la configuració de tots els vehicles aquest vespre, al parc d’assistència de PortAventura World. La jornada de demà suma un total de 462,96 kilòmetres, 121,72 d’ells cronometrats, al llarg de 6 especials a doble passada: Savallà (14,08 km), Querol (21,26 km) i El Montmell (24,40 km), que conclouran amb el tram urbà de Salou (2,24 km).

Sébastien Loeb (Hyundai) in the lead of the 55 RallyRACC after the first day
PortAventura World (Tarragona), 25-10-2019.- An extraordinary performance in the second loop through the three stages that formed the first leg of the 55 RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada, Rally de España 2019, placed Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) in the lead at the end of the day. Three different drivers had led the standings (Sébastien Ogier, Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo), during this first day. Spain’s Dani Sordo and Carlos Del Barrio lost the first position in the last stage, falling to the third position while Thierry Neuville/Nicolas Gilsoul kept the second spot. That allowed Hyundai to place their three i20 Coupe WRC in podium position with two days on tarmac still to go.
Three stages formed the first loop that kicked off the 55 RallyRACC this morning. A total of 61 cars started this first day on gravel from the PortAventura World service park. In the short Gandesa stage, with only 7km and exactly the same as last year, Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (Citroën C3 WRC) set the fastest time, ahead of the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC driven by Dani Sordo/Carlos del Barrio and Thierry Neuville/Nicolas Gilsoul, while the provisional World Championship leaders, Ott Tänak/Martin Järveoja (Toyota Yaris WRC), stayed a little behind. In fact, Ogier improved last year’s fastest time in the first stage, set by Tänak, by 3’’.
But in the Horta-Bot stage (19 km), a little shorter version of last year’s Pesells, Ogier had trouble with the power steering and finished nearly 45’’ behind Neuville, who took again the provisional lead of the race followed by Sordo and Meeke, both ahead of Tänak.
The third stage of the morning look and the longest, with 38.85 km and mixed tarmac-gravel surface, saw the third stage winner, as Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena were then the fastest, followed by Sordo and Neuville, all of them driving a Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. This result allowed Sordo to take the provisional overall lead at the end of the morning, despite a puncture during the last stage La Fatarella-Vilalba, followed by Neuville and Tänak, while Ogier kept having issues and lost his chances to fight for victory and, consequently, to be in the battle for the title.
The second loop through the same three stages confirmed the supremacy of the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRCs, with Sordo setting his fastest time of the RallyRACC in Gandesa and Loeb in Horta-Bot and setting the fastest time again at La Fatarella-Vilalba, which left Loeb/Elena as the new overall leaders at the end of this first day. The Hyundai were also showing their consistency with the three official cars in the first three places, as Neuville/Gilsoul and Sordo/Del Barrio finished second and third, respectively. The Spanish rider lost the lead in the last stage of the day when he finished 21’’7 behind Loeb, but all of them keep their chances to take the win, ahead of Kris Meeke/Sebastian Marshall and Ott Tänak/Martin Järveoja.
Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia were able to recover and end the day in twelfth place, while mechanical woes left Esapekka Lappi/Janne Ferm’s Citroën out of the race in the fifth stage. The WRC2 Pro provisional standings are led by Mads Ostberg/Torstein Eriksen (Citroën C3 R5) while in WRC2 the first place tonight is for Pierre-Louis Loubet/Vincent Landais (Skoda Fabia R5 Evo).
Tomorrow, Saturday, the second leg will take place on tarmac and so tonight the setup of all the cars will need to be changed at the PortAventura World Service Park. The day will include 7 stages, with two passes through Savallà (14.08 km), Querol (21.26 km) and El Montmell (24.40 km) and the urban stage of Salou (2.24 km) will end the day, making a total of 121.72 km of a total 462.96 km.
