La undécima y penúltima prueba del Campeonato del Mundo de Rallies de la FIA ha concluido hoy domingo en el podio del Passeig Jaume I de Salou con la segunda victoria consecutiva de Thierry Neuville-Martijn Wydaeghe (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC), tras la conseguida por el piloto y la marca en la última edición celebrada en 2019. El equipo belga ha dominado la carrera desde la primera jornada de competición, situándose primeros a partir del quinto tramo y manteniendo la posición hasta el decimoséptimo con el que ha finalizado la competición. La prueba organizada por el RACC ha vivido un gran éxito en todos los aspectos.
La tercera y última etapa se ha disputado esta mañana con dos pasadas por los tramos de Santa Marina (9,10 km) y Riudecanyes (16,35 km), siendo la segunda de éste el Power Stage que ha otorgado puntos adicionales a los cinco primeros clasificados. Con las dos primeras posiciones consolidadas por Thierry Neuville y Elfyn Evans, respectivamente como primero y segundo, el interés se ha centrado en la progresión de Dani Sordo-Cándido Carrera (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC), que han sido los más rápidos en todos los tramos celebrados en esta jornada desbancando así de la tercera plaza a Sébastien Ogier-Julien Ingrassia (Toyota Yaris WRC), posición que habían ocupado durante las dos jornadas previas. Los españoles han ganado el Power Stage por delante precisamente de los dos primeros clasificados, Neuville y Evans.
Además, el equipo Thierry Neuville-Martijn Wydaeghe y su Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC han logrado en Salou su segundo triunfo de la temporada tras el conseguido en el Ypres Rally de su país, Bélgica. La segunda posición de Elfyn Evans-Scott Martin (Toyota Yaris WRC) les permite seguir con opciones al título, que se resolverá en la última prueba de la temporada, mientras que Dani Sordo-Cándido Carrera (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) han sido los verdaderos protagonistas de este último día al ganarlo todo y hacerse el piloto cántabro con su segundo podio del año –el otro fue en Portugal–, primero para su copiloto, el gallego Cándido Carrera.
Sébastien Ogier-Julien Ingrassia (Toyota Yaris WRC) se han tenido que conformar con la cuarta posición, aunque siguen contando con suficiente margen para intentar alzarse con su octavo título mundial en Monza el próximo mes de noviembre. Kalle Rovanperä-Jonne Halttunen (Toyota Yaris WRC) han ocupado la quinta plaza con los españoles Nil Solans-Marc Martí clasificándose en octavo lugar, en su debut con un Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC.
Eric Camilli-Maxime Vilmot (Citroën C3 Rally2) han vencido en WRC2, categoría de la que ya es campeón Andreas Mikkelsen, mientras que en WRC3 la victoria ha correspondido a Reeta Hämäläinen-Emil Lindholm (Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo). En esta categoría ya no tomaban la salida esta mañana Pepe López-Borja Rozada (Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo), después de detectar una avería en el motor cuando ocupaban la tercera posición tras haber rodado durante casi toda la carrera segundos. Por último, la victoria de Sami Pajari-Marko Salminen (Ford Fiesta Rally4), segunda este año, les ha permitido conseguir el título de JWRC convirtiéndose el piloto finlandés en el campeón más joven y primero de su país en los 20 años de historia de esta categoría, pues la española era la última cita del calendario.
El Campeonato del Mundo de Rallies de la FIA finalizará con el ACI Rally Monza en Italia, que se celebrará del 18 al 21 de noviembre y en el que se decidirán los títulos mundiales de Pilotos, entre Sébastien Ogier y Elfyn Evans, de Copilotos, entre Julien Ingrassia y Scott Martin, y de Constructores, al que optan Toyota y Hyundai, además del campeonato soporte WRC3 entre Yohan Rossel y Kajetan Kajetanowicz.

RallyRACC, dia 3: Neuville i Hyundai guanyen per segona vegada consecutiva
Salou, 17 d’octubre de 2021.- La onzena i penúltima prova del Campionat del Món de Ral·lis de la FIA ha finalitzat avui diumenge al podi del Passeig Jaume I de Salou amb la segona victòria consecutiva de Thierry Neuville-Martijn Wydaeghe (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC), desprès de la que va aconseguir el pilot i la marca a l’última edició celebrada el 2019. L’equip belga ha dominat la cursa des de la primera jornada de competició, situant-se primers a partir del cinquè tram i mantenint la posició fins al dissetè, amb el que ha finalitzat la competició. La prova organitzada pel RACC ha tingut un gran èxit en tots els aspectes.
La tercera i última etapa s’ha disputat aquest matí amb dues passades pels trams de Santa Marina (9,10 km) i Riudecanyes (16,35 km), essent la segona passada per aquest última la Power Stage que ha atorgat punts addicionals als cinc primers classificats. Amb les dues primers posicions consolidades per Thierry Neuville i Elfyn Evans, respectivament com a primer i segon, l’interès s’ha centrat en la progressió de Dani Sordo-Cándido Carrera (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC), que han estat els més ràpids en tots els trams celebrats aquesta jornada, desplaçant així de la tercer plaça a Sébastien Ogier-Julien Ingrassia (Toyota Yaris WRC), posició que havien ocupat durant les dues jornades prèvies. Els espanyols han guanyat el Power Stage per davant precisament dels dos primers classificats, Neuville i Evans.
A més, l’equip de Thierry Neuville-Martijn Wydaeghe i el seu Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC han aconseguit a Salou el seu segon triomf de la temporada desprès del que van aconseguir a l’Ypres Rally del seu país, Bèlgica. La segona posició d’Elfyn Evans-Scott Martin (Toyota Yaris WRC) els permet de mantenir les opcions al títol, que es decidirà a la última prova de la temporada, mentre Dani Sordo-Cándido Carrera (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) ha estat els autèntics protagonistes de l’últim dia, ja que ho han guanyat tot i el piloto de Cantabria ha aconseguit el seu segon podi de l’any – l’altra va ser a Portugal – el primer per al seu copilot, el gallec Cándido Carrera.
Sébastien Ogier-Julien Ingrassia (Toyota Yaris WRC) s’han hagut de conformar amb la quarta posició, tot i que segueixen comptant amb suficient marge per intentar aconseguir el seu vuitè títol mundial a Monza el proper mes de novembre. Kalle Rovanperä-Jonne Halttunen (Toyota Yaris WRC) han ocupat la cinquena posició, amb els espanyols Nil Solans-Marc Martí classificant-se en vuitè lloc en el seu debut amb un Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC.

Per últim, la victòria de Sami Pajari-Marko Salminen (Ford Fiesta Rally4), segona aquest any, els hi ha permès d’aconseguir el titulo de JWRC, convertint-se el pilot finlandès en el campió més jove i el primer del seu país en els 20 anys d’història de la categoria, ja que la espanyola era l’ultima cita del calendari.
El Campionat del Món de Ral·lis FIA finalitzarà amb l’ACI Rally Monza a Itàlia, que tindrà lloc del 18 al 21 de novembre i en el que es decidiran els títols mundials de Pilots, entre Sébastien Ogier i Elfyn Evans, de Copilots, entre Julien Ingrassia i Scott Martin, i de Constructors, al que opten Toyota i Hyundai, a més del campionat de suport WRC entre Yohan Rossel i Kajetan Kajetanowicz.

RallyRACC, day 3: Neuville and Hyundai win for the second time in a row
Salou, October 17, 2021 - The eleventh and penultimate round of the FIA World Rally Championship ended today, Sunday, on the podium at Passeig Jaume I in Salou with the second consecutive victory for Thierry Neuville-Martijn Wydaeghe (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC), following the win the driver and the brand secured in the last edition held in 2019. The Belgian team dominated the race from the first day of competition, taking the lead from the fifth stage onwards and maintaining the position until the seventeenth stage, that finished the competition. The event organised by the RACC has been a great success in all aspects.
The third and final stage was contested this morning with two runs through the Santa Marina (9.10 km) and Riudecanyes (16.35 km) sections, the second of which was the Power Stage that awarded additional points to the top five finishers. With the first two positions consolidated by Thierry Neuville and Elfyn Evans, respectively as first and second, the interest was focused on the progression of Dani Sordo-Cándido Carrera (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC), who were the fastest in all of today’s stages, pushing Sébastien Ogier-Julien Ingrassia (Toyota Yaris WRC) away from third place, a position they had held for the two previous days. The Spanish duo won the Power Stage ahead of the first two, Neuville and Evans.
In addition, the Thierry Neuville-Martijn Wydaeghe team and their Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC have secured in Salou their second victory of the season after the one they got at the Ypres Rally in their home country, Belgium. Elfyn Evans-Scott Martin’s (Toyota Yaris WRC) second place allows them to keep their options to the title, which will be decided in the last round of the season, while Dani Sordo-Cándido Carrera (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) have been the real protagonists of this last day by winning all stages and taking the second podium of the year for the Cantabrian driver -the other one was in Portugal-, and the first for his co-driver, Galician Cándido Carrera.
Sébastien Ogier-Julien Ingrassia (Toyota Yaris WRC) had to settle for the fourth place, although they still have enough margin to try and secure their eighth World Championship title in Monza next November. Kalle Rovanperä-Jonne Halttunen (Toyota Yaris WRC) finished in fifth place with the Spanish duo Nil Solans-Marc Martí in eighth position in their debut with a Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC.

In that category, Pepe López-Borja Rozada (Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo) could not be at the start this morning after detecting an engine issue when they were third after keeping the second place for nearly the whole race. Finally, Sami Pajari-Marko Salminen’s (Ford Fiesta Rally4) win, their second this year, allowed them to take the JWRC title and the Finnish driver has become the youngest champion and the first from his country in the twenty years of this category’s history, as the Spanish round was the last of the calendar.
The FIA World Rally Championship will end with the ACI Rally Monza in Italy, which will take place from November 18 to 21 and will decide the Drivers’ title, between Sébastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans. As well as the titles of the Co-drivers’, between Julien Ingrassia and Scott Martin, and Constructor’s championships, the latter to be decided between Toyota y Hyundai. It will also decide the result of the WRC3 category between Yohan Rossel and Kajetan Kajetanowicz.
